This was my first time in St. Peter but from what I could tell this place is where you should go for some local flavor. I dined here on a Monday evening and the first thing I noticed as I pulled in was the huge, truly massive parking lot. Being 6pm on a Monday the "overflow" lot was not being utilized but it was clear this place was a local favorite. This was confirmed when I learned from the server that on Easter they had over 1,000 diners join them. We sat in the back patio area that overlooks their abundance of bird feeders that were being fully utilized by a wide variety of birds and squirrels alike. It reminded me of my days as a little girl sitting with my grandparents in their living room watching the action at their bird feeder- they would have been in heaven here. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad which was good. I don't know if I have ever had a Chicken Caesar Salad truly knocked my socks off. They tend to be either good or bad and this was on the good side. In order to fully assess the food I will need to order a less safe culinary option on my next visit. My dining companion had the taco salad which was of generous size and as he pointed out, had a bit of a kick to it so if you don't like your food spicy be warned. This place is very no-frills and has a small town restaurant feel. Next time I am in St. Peter I'll grab a bite to eat with the locals, and the birds at Whiskey River.

If the table was clean... If the fries were warm... If the philly wasn't dry and flavorless... If the restaurant weren't understaffed... If the server had asked about the meal I couldn't finish just once... If the server had asked if we wanted more than the initial drink... My mother was a hard working waitress and I can't help but give them the benefit of the doubt, but this was terrible. Obviously someone tried to create a slightly palatable menu here years ago, but controls were never maintained. The quality of the food was well below standard and though the server was nice, she was the most neglectful I've ever experienced. We've been here for over two hours and were given our checks within 45 minutes and never asked for refills or additional beverages. How does this place make money? I recall Whiskey River in the 90's and this is most definitely not the same bar and grill. Very few taps, ancient design scheme...we're still waiting to pay?! The cooks are uninspired and the owners are obviously waiting for retirement because no one is motivated. Never again. This is the easily biggest disappointment in St. Peter. **Note: Having had a day to reconsider my review, I wouldn't change a thing. As a foodie, I have to rate this restaurant a solid 1 star. I've been here twice and seen and tasted 3 entrees, all to my disliking. Cheap ingredients, hasty preparation and zero refinement.

Stopped in while out on a ride. What a nice clean place with a great view!! The bartender whom I believe was the owner was sooo friendly and nice!! The customers seemed like mostly locals but were fun to chat with over a bloody mary!

Wonderful bird activity and the walleye was very good. Fast service, good food all around and friendly staff. We are from Wyoming and loved the Whiskey River restaurant. We recommend you stop by for a photo op if nothing else.

Met here with a group of people. Reservation had been made, and the tables were ready. Menus were brought immediately and our drink orders were taken promptly. After that, the waitress never returned to take our order. Very slow service! Once she did finally take the order the food arrived in a decent amount of time. French fries were very good, but the other food was just okay, nothing special. Portions were generous. Service here seems to lack. I would not recommend this as a place to get in and out quickly for a meal. This place is known for their scenic views and wildlife. Yes, the view is nice, if you can see it. Depends on seating area you are given. As far as food and service goes, the service lacks and food is just okay.

Awesome onion rings. Cool sitting area that overlooks beautiful landscape with a ton of bird feeders with hundreds of different animals, birds, and turkey's.

Place is a skeleton of what the original was. Dirty bar and tables, poor service, less than average food. Try El Agave instead!

I grew up in the area and Whiskey Rover is a hidden gem. The brunch buffets on Sundays are good.

I have only been here for breakfast so this is only in regards to their breakfast. Having been here 4-5 times, I would rate this a reliable place for breakfast the food is good just nothing special. Unless you are really hungry order the canoes vs the boats. The portions are huge and the Bloody Mary' s are excellent. An extra bonus is the wild life in the backyard, the turkey feedings are something special to behold.

VERY overpriced drinks, and food. For the price, the quality isn't there. Average food for fine restaurant prices. If your in St Peter and ready for a great meal...... Drive 12 miles further to Mankato and pay 1/2 the price. $3.75 for a domestic bottle of beer is outrageous.

Sunday supper. Ordered popcorn shrimp. Big mistake. Not sure what would have been a safer choice as most of the food is fried or apparently reheated from frozen. It was fun to watch the wild life outside, but could help feeling they were eating better. Ordered drinks before dinner but I think they cut back on the alcohol, which seems odd for a roadhouse. This place seems quite popular. One can only conclude there are not that many places to eat out in St. Peter.

Dined here just after the Sunday brunch crowd left, service was great, and the food was good. I thought the prices were a bit steep at first, but when my Cuban sandwich arrived, it was a full 12" order. Keep in mind that this place is right on the Minnesota river and it has been in business for a good 40 years as a roadhouse bar and supper club. Nice view from the bar area and plenty of wildlife to observe.

Nothing special and rather expensive for a small town joint.

Food is mediocre at best. I have a feeling everything is simply reheated frozen stuff and/or deep fried. This place is really popular , and it's hard to figure out why- not walkable to town or GAC, not really the best atmosphere, so so food, ok service

The food was fine, the service was awful. The prices were high and the bar area where we sat was less than clean. Obviously a local hangout and the service reflected that. So no worries WR, we wont bother you again.
